Demo mode and your license
Demo mode
Until you enter a license key, ComposerFlex runs in demo mode. Demo mode is the full program, with three differences:
- Each session lasts 20 minutes from when you start ComposerFlex. After 20 minutes the song fades out, and the yellow line tells you the session is over. Start ComposerFlex again for another 20 minutes. Demo mode never expires, so you can try ComposerFlex for as long as you like.
- You can't save songs in the Song Library or the MIDI archive. Those are part of the full version. Songs you saved earlier still open and play.
- "(Demo)" appears after ComposerFlex's name at the top of the window, with the minutes you have left and two buttons: Buy…, which opens our website, and Enter license key…, which opens the license box.
Everything else works in demo mode: every preset and ingredient, Random, seeds, and saving your own presets, with their seeds. So any presets you make while trying ComposerFlex are still there after you buy.
Entering your license key
After you buy ComposerFlex, you'll get an email with your license key.
- Click Enter license key… at the top of the window. (It's also in the About box.)
- Type the email address you used when you bought ComposerFlex.
- Copy the license key from your purchase email, then click Paste.
- Click Unlock.
The license box closes, and the yellow line tells you who ComposerFlex is licensed to. The About box shows this too.
- You only need to enter the key once. It's kept for your Windows user account.
- If you bought a key for both programs, the same key also unlocks PianoFlex.
- There's no account to create and no online activation. ComposerFlex never connects to the internet. You may use your license on all of your own computers.
-
On a new PC, enter the key again. Or copy the file
license.txtfrom your old PC to the same place on the new one. To find it, type%APPDATA%in File Explorer's address bar and press Enter, then open theFlex Music Labsfolder.
If your key isn't accepted
The license box tells you why:
- "This key does not match this email address": use the email address and the key exactly as they appear in your purchase email. Pasting the key, rather than typing it, avoids mistakes.
- "This key is for PianoFlex, not ComposerFlex": you've entered your PianoFlex key. Enter it in PianoFlex instead.
- "This key is not for this version of ComposerFlex": the key is for a different version of ComposerFlex. Check that it's the key from your ComposerFlex purchase email.
- "The key is right, but it could not be saved": Windows didn't let ComposerFlex save the key. The rest of the message says why.
If it still won't unlock, write to [email protected] and include your purchase email. License-key problems always get a reply.
