Questions

FAQ

Help and your key

How do I get help?

Start with the user guide for your program: PianoFlex, ComposerFlex or PianoFlex Player. For anything else, email [email protected]. See Support.

Is there a manual?

Yes, a full user guide for each program: PianoFlex, ComposerFlex and PianoFlex Player. Each program also installs its guide: choose Help, then User guide, and it opens in your browser.

How do I enter my license key?

In the program, choose Enter license key…, and enter the email address you bought with and your key. You do this once for each Windows user on each computer. No key yet? See Support.

Trying and buying

Is there a free demo?

Yes. Each program's download is both the demo and the full program, and the demo never expires. What the demo leaves out.

What happens after I buy?

Your license key arrives by email, usually within minutes. Download the program from this site if you haven't already, choose Enter license key…, and enter the email address you bought with and the key. You do this once for each Windows user on each computer.

Does one key cover both programs?

A key for PianoFlex + ComposerFlex unlocks both. A key for one program unlocks that program. The PianoFlex program and its VST®3 plugin share one license.

How many computers can I use it on?

All of your own: there's no machine limit. A license is for one person, so a studio or school where several people use it needs one license for each of them.

Can I sell or give away my license?

No. A license is personal to the buyer and can't be transferred. If it isn't right for you, there's a 14-day refund.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Ask within 14 days for a full refund, with no questions asked. The license then ends, and the demo stays yours to use. See the refund policy.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No. Neither program ever connects to the internet: no account, no online activation, no update checks, crash reports or tracking.

The programs

Does it run on Mac or Linux?

No. Both programs are for Windows 11, 64-bit.

Is the music or the piano AI-generated?

No. The music and the piano sound come from the programs' own algorithms, running on your computer. No AI model is involved.

Does PianoFlex use samples?

No, and it needs none. Every note is computed as you play it. PianoFlex was voiced by measuring freely licensed recordings of real pianos across the whole keyboard, but none of those recordings is inside it. See our credits page.

Does PianoFlex work in my DAW?

Yes, if your DAW hosts VST3 plugins. PianoFlex comes as a standalone program and a VST3 plugin, on one license, and the plugin has the same sound controls, every slider and preset. Opening MIDI files, rendering, recording and MIDI out are in the standalone program, since your DAW does those. ComposerFlex is a standalone program only.

Do I need anything else to hear ComposerFlex?

No. ComposerFlex comes with PianoFlex Player and plays through it out of the box. If the PianoFlex program is running, ComposerFlex plays into it instead, with nothing to set up.

What is the difference between PianoFlex Player and PianoFlex?

PianoFlex Player comes with ComposerFlex. It has one piano, Session Player, played from ComposerFlex or a MIDI keyboard, with a choice of four rooms. PianoFlex has 33 presets and every slider to shape them, a VST3 plugin, MIDI file playback, and recording and rendering.

Can I use ComposerFlex with my own piano or synth?

Yes. Set Output to MIDI port and pick the port, and ComposerFlex sends its notes over MIDI to whatever plays them: a digital piano or synth connected to your PC, or your DAW through a virtual MIDI port. It can also keep every song as a standard MIDI file.

Your music

Who owns the music I make?

You do. The songs, MIDI files and audio you create with ComposerFlex and PianoFlex are yours to use any way you want: release them, sell them, use them in films, games or commercial work. You owe us nothing: no royalties, no fees, no credit.

Two things to know. You can't sample or record the sound of PianoFlex or PianoFlex Player, or collect ComposerFlex's patterns, to make a competing product such as a sample library; your songs and recordings, including solo piano pieces, aren't affected. And music made with software can resemble other music, and some countries limit copyright in machine-made material, so we can't promise a song is original or can be copyrighted. See the license, section 4.
